Free Weekly DotNetNuke Training Online

Due to overwhelming response to our weekly training sessions - we are taking a few weeks to re-tool and respond to the demand. New sessions will be published to begin the first week in July. We are also working to make past sessions available by streaming video.

As part of our contribution to the DotNetNuke community we provide weekly hour long instructor-led sessions online.  The sessions are held each Friday afternoon at 2:00 pm Central US time and are  free for anyone to attend. (RSVPs required)

Each session will cover a specific topic (i.e. uses of a specific module, skinning techniques, portal configuration, etc.) and will end with time for questions and answers.

Past Training Sessions

Friday, May 23 - Using FormMaster to signup with Constant Contact (View this session in our Archive)

Most clients want to be able to do bulk mailings to their customers and opt-in lists. Doing it directly through DNN's bulk mail tool has disadvantages that cause many to look for other options. Frequently Contstant Contact, Bronto, or other bulk mailing services are an easy choice.

There is difficulty integrating the signup forms each of these services provide with any .Net website since they rely on forms that post the info directly to them. Doing this also means you give up some control over the visual presentation of the signup process.

With Code 5 Systems Form Master module you can integrate directly with any of these popular services. We will examine the Form Master module and how to use it for this purpose.

Friday, May 30 - Configuring and using the DotNetNuke Blog Module

Clients expect the blog tool to be easy and straigtforward. Blog systems such as Blogger and Wordpress have the advantage of being dedicated blogging platforms. And if we're honest, sometimes the DNN blog module is challenging for people to configure and use.

We're going to cover our company's technique for setting up the blog module (including some simple changes to the .ascx code) , some uses of the XML/XSL module to do some cool blog things, and some ideas for DNN user role configuration.

Friday, June 6 - Using Telerik's RadMenu, Panel Bar, and TabStrip

We've been using Telerik menu controls for the last two years in all of our DotNetNuke portals. Somewhere along the way we've gotten quite handy with them.

We'll cover some layout options you can do with you skins using these three menu choices, deploying the menus, and how to create the custom skin files required by Telerik to use these powerful menus in your site design.

Friday, June 13 - XHTML & CSS DotNetNuke Skinning

The number 1 complaint we still hear from potential clients about DNN is that they don't want their site to "look like a DNN website". With the advances in the DNN Skinning framework enabling true XHTML compliant markup there are no framework imposed limits to skinning DNN. If you can create the design (and it makes at least some sense), we can skin the look.

We'll show you how we create truly cross browser friendly markup, help your pages load faster, and get the pages to validate.
